Planet & Moon Themed Counting Mats: 1 to 10

Counting mats have always been a favorite for me and others. I thought it would be fun to change up the mats and add a space-themed one! Space is a great theme for kids to learn with

The mats are really flexible in how you want to use them. And some kids love to have hands-on learning.

These free planet and moon counting mats a great way to work on numbers and have fun.

The counting mats are perfect for kids working on their numbers 1 to 10. They are straightforward and easy to set up and make a great math center for preschool and kindergarten. Each one has a ten frame which is a great way for kids to work on the start of math.

With the moon landing anniversary, we wanted to have more moon activities people could do! Plus we saw this Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty – Lunar Landing Glow in The Dark! and these mats just had to happen to go with it!

Each of the mats has a playdough number, a written number, and a ten frame. They have a really cool black background and a planet for kids to use for the moons. Recommend printing on white cardstock and laminating these pages to help them last longer.

Since this a space set and not everyone likes to print it all black there is a white version you can use as well.

How We use these Planet & Moon Themed Counting Mats

You can see how we placed the unifix cubes in the ten frames and the Lunar Landing Putty on the mat and to build the number.

I love to change it up and see what other items we have. We have some alien erasers that are loads of fun and we used them in the ten frames as well.
