Sensory bins can be loads of fun to play in. You can make so many simple and easy sensory bins. And today we have a St. Patrick’s Day Gold Find Sensory Bin with kinetic sand!
It takes very little time to set up and clean up.
Plus the bin is great for sensory play and a break from doing everything.
We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission.
A fun book to go along wit this sensory bin would be Pete the Cat: The Great Leprechaun Chase: Includes 12 St. Patrick’s Day Cards, Fold-Out Poster, and Stickers!.
You can read about Pete the Cat and his search for the Leprechaun! Plus then do the sensory bin afterward.

How we use the St. Patrick’s Day Gold Sensory Bin
You can hide all the gold under the sand and have them dig the gold out. It is a great way to get them into the bin really quickly. It is super easy to set up as well!
Then they can just dig all the gold out from the sand. I love to see if they can hold the gold in one hand and dig with the other. You can switch hands with the gold as well.
I love that kids can be as creative as they want with a sensory bin. I can suggest things but they always have the best ideas for play.
With the kinetic sand it holds its shape and you can build on it. She put some gold in the middle and then put sand all around it.
Then she put all gold in the center and buried it. There is no wrong way to play with the sensory bin. And she gets great sensory input and wonderful fine motor in as well.
She made a tower of the sand and pressed the gold into the sand. You can see how pushing them in is great fine motor work.
You can also use the gold pieces to make letters in the sand. I have some fun St. Patrick’s Day letters! They work great with the ABCs
And it also works for numbers! You can get some fun St. Patrick’sday Day numbers as well.
There is no wrong way to use the sensory bin! It is always fun to see how creative kids can play in the bin!
