Winter Sports Gross Motor Dice

Winter has so many great sports! I know that winter is coming to a close but the winter sports are still fun to do!

I know that my girls love to watch winter sports as well. I also know that my girls don’t like to sit still and want to get out and move around as much as they can. But sometimes you can’t go outside.

Today I have a new free winter sports gross motor dice for kids to use!

I love winter and winter sports are always fun. We always have a blast watching different sports during the winter. Plus when the Olympics are around it is fun to see the different winter sports.

Each dice set has their own fun gross motor activities, but with the cube dice you can mix them up! The cube dice have the movement on them and the folding dice just have the name of the sport.

Things to use with the Winter Sports Gross Motor Dice

I have found that the cube dice tend to last longer and my girls just love throwing the dice around.

The dice inserts are easy to put in. It makes it simple to switch out the dice or mix the different dice together. My girls love switching up the dice.

The Winter Sports Movements

There are 6 different movements in the set. The idea is to give them something different to do with their gross motor. This can be used for kids at home that need to get the wiggles out or kids at school for a fast break!

I review what the movements are before we use the dice. This gives them a chance to ask questions and for me to make sure they have the movements.

I also check to make sure they have space around each other for the movements. I call it my “space check.” If space is an issue, they might do a movement one at a time.

Figure Skating: You spin around in the circle.

Skiing: You jump side and side

Ski Jumping: You jump up and try to touch your toes.

Speed Skating: You raise your legs side to side.

Bobsledding: You sit and lean side to side like you are steering a bobsled.

Hockey: You pretends to shoot the hockey puck.

After you are sure of the movements you can change up the dice a bit. You can add speed and how many times they do the movement. You can get the number dice here.

If you don’t want to mess with the dice, you can always just print them and use them as a set of cards. Mix them up and have them turn over the gross motor they will do. You can also mix in other of the gross motor dice as well! My girls loving using the cube dice because they can throw them in the air!
