Mini Zoo Rice Sensory Bin
Sensory bins are a huge part of our sensory diet at our house. I’m always switching up the themes and ingredients.
Today I have a fun bin that was put together really quickly with a fun zoo theme. The zoo is one theme we have never done a sensory bin for, but it’s one of our favorite subjects.
Plus it is a great bin for animals loves and for summer fun. A great summer sensory bin for kids in prek and kindergarten.

The Mini Zoo Rice Sensory Bin is a great addition to the zoo activities and sensory bins on the site.
What is a sensory bin?
A sensory bin is typically a plastic tub or container filled with carefully selected materials and objects to stimulate the senses of children in preschool.
Sensory bins might have rice, water beads, corn, beans, or other types filled with small items.
Mini Zoo Rice Sensory Bin
I love sensory bins that take very little time to put together. Why is that? Because I want them to have fun without having tons of fuss about how long it takes me to put it together.
Since animal activities are a favorite for us we did this zoo sensory bin with a big and small theme. Plus this is a small sensory bin that fits perfectly inside a shoe box container. Nice to travel if you need something to take along with you.
What You Need for the Mini Zoo Rice Sensory Bin:

Ways to Use the Mini Zoo Rice Sensory Bin
I’ll show you a few ways that we use the zoo rice sensory bin. And remember these are just ideas.
Play in the Zoo Sensory Bin
Let just play and explore the sensory bin. that is what sensory bins are for is for sensory play. And we do a few activities but I always let them have time for playing.
Sort Animals by what they Eat
One thing I love about the animal toobs is that there are so many options and ways to learn with them. My girls love exploring the animals and types in the bin. One of the first things they did was play with them and then they sorted the animals by what they ate. We talked about each animal as to why it went into each group.

Where does the Animal Live
The second activity they did was sort the animals by what lived on land and what was in the water. It was fun to see how they creative land and water areas in the bin.

You could also do a fun Animals STEM Challenge for kids after using the sensory bin.
Find the Animals in the Sensory Bin
In this bin is so sizes of animals and some have matching small from the mini sets and some don’t. To make it a fun sensory activity I give them an animal name and have them find the big and small of the animal. They have to close their eyes and see if they can find it. They all had different ways of finding the animals. It was fun to see them play through the bin and find the animals. Sometimes they got it right and sometimes they did not.

The best part about this bin is that you can switch it up to any mini set. You can do farms, ocean or dinosaur really easy! They have big sets with matching minis.
Always Remember that You can Just Play in Sensory Bins
Never forget that sensory should be fun and easy for kids to play with. Plus we spend hours and hours playing with the bins.
