Ways to Use the Apple Sensory Bin
You will see a few ways to use the apple sensory bin with kids. And remember these are just ideas.
Play In the Apple Sensory Bin
The most important part about the sensory bin is sensory play. Just letter kids play and explore a sensory bin is a big part of a sensory bin.
If you only play that is okay. And setting up a fancy sensory bin takes time that kids will just mess up. So let them mess up the sensory bin and play with scooping and pouring and exploring what is in the sensory bin.

Sorting Colors in the Apple Sensory Bin
A fun activity for older kids is sorting colors. You can do this with younger kids as well. You can have kids sort the apples in the sensory bin. They can pick corners in the bin and sort the colors as they explore and find them.
You can have younger kids just search and find a color you ask for. And example” give me a green apple”. they find and give you the green apple. You can change it up and ask for 2 apples or different amounts of different colors. And they get to dig in the sensory bin and find the colors.

Make Letters, Numbers and Shapes with the Apples
You can have a little fun and have kids make letters number or shapes with the apples. You can tell them what to make. You can say “make a square with the apples”. Then they make a square. You can do this in the sensory bin or outside of the sensory bin. Another fun way to use the sensory bin and add some learning.
You can see we did a square below in our sensory bin.

Build Patterns with the Apples in the Sensory Bin
You can use the apple to make patterns with older kids. Sort the colors of the sensory bin and use the apples for patterns.
You can use all three apple colors for ABC patterns. Fun and easy to for to do. You can start a pattern and have them finish the pattern. Or you can use the apple pattern printable to get pattern ideas.

You can also do AB patterns with two colors. Let kids explore patterns with the fun apple colors. And like the ABC pattern you can use the apple pattern printables for pattern ideas.
It is a simple way to add math for older kids whole doing sensory play.

And Remember to Just Play in the Apple Sensory Bin
And finally remember sensory bins are for sensory play. And if all you do is play in the sensory bin that is okay.
And if kids make a mess that is okay. That is what sensory bins are for making mess and playing.
