Christmas Cookie Cutter Painting

A season does not go by that we don’t do something with the cookie cutter at our house. This time we read the books The Sweet Smell of Christmas (Scented Storybook).

It is a great book about all the things you can smell at Christmas plus is a scratch and sniff. My youngest just loves to read this book because she gets to smell the pages. She would not want to wait for the book to be finished before she was smelling it! We both had fun with it.

What you need: lids, Wilton 101-Piece Cookie Cutter Set: Christmas tree, stocking, candy cane & small gingerbread man and paints: green, yellow, brown & red.

The first few pages she just wanted to stamp the pages. She did one with them all over and the second page she did them in rows.

After the second paper she did. We counted how many candy canes, gingerbread men and Christmas trees she had.

She did a pattern next on the paper. It was a simple AB pattern: gingerbread man & candy cane. After the pattern was finished she wanted to paint more. She was excited that she could paint how she wanted. That is important to remember this is about learning and having fun not following a set plan.

After she was allowed to paint she went crazy having lots of fun.

This was fun and I even joined in the time with her painting. Take a look at her finished pictures.
