Earth Day is here. You have so many fun themes with Earth Day like trees, taking care of the earth, recycling, and more.
We love the Paper Roll gross motor dice but we wanted different movements that were more about what Earth Day is.
So here is the free Earth Day Gross motor Dice!
I love adding these gross motor dice to our seasons. They are fun to do and get kids of all ages moving.
I love having new additions for themes. This is a great one for Earth Day.
Each dice set has their own fun gross motor activities, but with the cube dice you can mix them up! The cube dice have the movement on them and the folding dice just have the name of the Earth Day theme.
Things to use with the Earth Day Themed Gross Motor
I have found that the cube dice last longer. We really love the throw the dice around a lot.
The cube inserts are easy to put in and take out. It makes it easy to switch out the different sets. I keep all of our gross motor inserts in a binder.
Here is a look at the two dice side by side.
How to use the Earth Day Themed Gross Motor Dice
There are 6 different movements in the set. The idea is to give them something different to do with their gross motor. This can be used for kids at home that need to get the wiggles out or kids at school for a fast break!
I review what the movements are before we use the dice. This gives them a chance to ask questions and for me to make sure they have the movements. Plus they might have their own idea for how the movements should be done!
I also check to make sure they have space around each other for the movements. I call it my “space check.” If space is an issue, they might do a movement one at a time. We have done staggering on some movements.
Paper roll: They roll across the floor like a paper roll. This is great for a full-body depressure movement.
Planting a Tree They pretend to have a shovel and dig the hole. This is great for cross-body movement.
Push the Trash Out: This is a fun pretend movement to make them think about where their hands are and how they take out the trash.
Turn like the Earth Thay do a fun spinning movement. You can do arms in and arms out. We have always liked arms out. But you can switch it back and forth.
Gross Like a Tree They start not he ground and slowly grow up spreading their arms wide.
Pick Up Garbage You have them bend at the waist and pick up pretend garbage on the ground.
After you are sure of the movements you can change up the dice a bit. You can add speed and how many times they do the movement. You can get the number dice here.
I love the change because the same movement at different speeds makes the body move in different ways.
If you don’t want to mess with the dice, you can always just print them and use them as a set of cards. Mix them up and have them turn over the gross motor they will do. You can also mix in other of the gross motor dice as well!
My girls loving using the cube dice because they can throw them in the air! And we do mix up the themes a lot!
