Kids love having games that they can play. Matching games can be fun for kids that like them. My youngest just loves games that you get to match something. We have been working on loads of learning to read games over the years.
We have done several games with matching the rhyming words. I have yet to do a picture matching game. I thought it would be fun to have one.
I made this rhyming planet and star matching game to work on a few simple rhymes to see which ones she could use some more work on.
Space has always been one of our favorite themes! I always look forward to our themed weeks. We have been doing them lately and love it.
The planets and stars are so much fun to match. These cards have a mix of ending sounds that rhyme.
I laid out all the cards and my girls got to look them over and had fun matching them. We look at the pictures and say the words and gets which ones matched the best.
Something else we did with the cards to make them easy to keep track of was put them on 1 inch rings. This allows them to flip through the cards to match them. Plus makes it easy to store them.
After we had a few matches we did some taping out of the words and wrote them on our space themed writing paper. This allowed me to see how well she knew her different vowel sounds with word combinations.
