Ecotarium Trip Review

EcotariumName: Ecotarium
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Website: http://www.ecotarium.org/
Length of stay: 90 minutes

The Ecotarium is one of the girls’ favorite places to visit. We go there often. The outside is full of places to explore. There are a lots of animals to see while you visit.

Animals
The eagles there are some of the girls favorite to see. You pass them on the way into the building. Right now they even have eggs.

River otters are also outside. They have an area to play and swim. The girls got a chance to run around with them back and forth in the area. For the first time ever we were there at feeding time. We learned about their eating habits and watched them do some point training.

While outside this trip we saw some wild turkeys and they were near the fox pen. The foxes where running back to forth watching the turkeys.

Some of the other animals are hawks, owls, turtles, snakes, and skunks. Many of the animals they have are there for a reason. Often they can’t be released back into the wild. There is information about each animal and sometimes why they are there.

Mount Washington
The Mount Washington area is the first you see as you enter the building’s top floor. You can climb, check out fog, and experience hurricane force winds.

Cool Moves
This looks at different types of movements: water, wind, and magnetic forces. The exhibit is all about how you move objects or your body.

Preschool Play Area

Play Games: Current traveling exhibit
This is a collection of many different games: chess, hopscotch, checkers, connect four, and more. The big chess set was a favorite of Rose’s. She had to play a game with her dad. This is a fun area to just relax and try a few different games.

Preschool Area
The girls like to play here. It is currently like a ferret area with things to crawl around and play on. You can weigh different stuffed ferrets and you can see different x-rays of ferrets. There are also some books and puppets.

Things we did not do this trip: train ride, curators office, African exhibit, and more.
