Free Ocean Themed Writing Prompts

Summer is one of those times where writing is not done as much and I like to find ways to keep them thinking. That is why we have some ocean themed writing prompts.

The idea behind these is to give them something to think about for their writing this summer. Ocean animals are a great theme for this. Plus goes great with the theme we have been working on all month.

We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission.

These also go great with the Ocean Pack and other ocean printables on the site.

What I love about these ocean writing prompts are that they are a no-prep printable. I can just open them up and print the page we are going to be using. I don’t have to worry about cutting or preparing anything. I like having that easy every now and then.

There are two different types of writing lines, that can be used with different ages. For younger kids have them draw the picture and have you help them with the sentence. This allows younger kids to learn about writing. You could also have a younger child draw the picture and you write the sentence for them as well.

I plan on using Commotion in the Ocean with these ocean themed writing prompts.
