What are CVC words?
CVC words are words that have a consonant vowel consonant pattern. They have easy to sound out consonants with a short vowel sound in the middle. They don’t have any tricky blends or digraphs for kids to work around.
They are considered simple words that can be used with early readers to help sound out and decode words.
You are going to find words like cat. Kids can sound out the letters C A & T. And then blend the sounds together to make the word cat.
Some CVC words that kids learn are peg, job, kid, rug, bat.
Each of the pages is going to have eight CVC words on the page. You will find a page for each short vowel sound: short a, short e, short i, short o, short u.
You will have two four beginning letter sounds on each page. You can see an example below.

Ways to Use the Pirate CVC Words Write Beginning Sounds Printable
I’m going to show you a few ways to use the pirate CVC worksheet with kids.
Write CVC the Beginning Sound Letter
You can have them write the beginning sounds for each word. You can use a pencil or have fun with markers. Then you can have them point to the letters and sound out each of the words.
Put the CVC Worksheet in a Sheet Protector
If you want to reuse the pirate CVC worksheet then put them in a sheet protector and use dry erase markers for writing. This way you can use it in a learning center over and over.
Stamp CVC the Beginning Sound Letter
If you want to record the beginning sounds but they are not great at writing you can have them use abc stamps to stamp the beginning letter sound on the page. You can give them the four letters that match the worksheet and have them stamp the letters.
Match the CVC the Beginning Sound Letter
You can also give them lacing letters to match the beginning sounds. This is a great way to reuse the pages,
