I have just loved the different interactive books. I wanted to do some for learning to read. I’m starting off with a growing bundle of CVC Interactive Word Books!
These books are great for beginner readers. They have simple sentences with matching pictures. Each of the books works on one CVC ending. These have fun ways for kids to learn their words.
I know that not every child learns the same way and not all teachers and homeschoolers are looking for the same thing. I wanted to add something beyond just an easy reader book. I wanted to give them some way to interact with the words while they read through the book.
I had five main goals when I start the CVC Interactive Word Books:
- Have a fun way to learn and practice CVC word family words.
- Read easy sentences with matching pictures highlighting one word ending.
- Help beginner readers start reading.
- Matching worksheets for each book.
I broke those goals into the three main parts of the set: the CVC interactive books, 2 worksheets that match the books, and reader strips.
This is a growing bundle with the first 7 books out, and more coming each week. The prices will go up as more books are added until it reaches the final sale price of $20.
A look at the Pages in the CVC Interactive Books
You start out with a fun sound it out page. This allows them to sound out each letter of the word with the dots at the bottom.

There is a page with 3 or 4 focus words for the book. You can trace the words and see the matching pictures.

You find and color all the words that end with the current word family ending. You can see all the -at words were colored.

Over the next few pages in the book, you have a focus word and that word in a sentence. You can color or trace the word. You could also underline the focus word in the sentences.
The first two pages in the reading section looks like these:

For the tracing pages they look like these two pages. If the book only has 3 words in it the last tracing page won’t be in the book.

The Matching Worksheets
Each of the books has a matching worksheet. The worksheet will have the same sentences from the book. There is the option of tracing the words or writing the words in.
These work as a great review after reading the book or just using the worksheet by itself is also easy to do. The worksheets are no-prep which makes it easy to just print and use.

The Reading Strips
These reading strips match the book and the worksheet. It is a way kids can just run through the sentences from the book. They come in color and black and white.
I recommend laminating them to help them last longer. There is a circle in the corner to punch the cards and put them on a ring.
