Loveland Living Planet Aquarium Trip Review

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is a great aquarium in the Salt lake City Area! The over all trip was great and we loved how easy it was to find. You are going to find a wide range of animals to see. They have a water tunnel to walk through, penguins, Utah animals, and South America. There is a wide area and computer screens around the area to help you learn about the animals you are looking at. This visit was a major hit for my girls and they love ocean animals and seeing them at aquariums. It was easy to explore and find your way around.

Once in the aquarium all the areas to explore are open and easy to see. We loved that they had some whale statues to stop and play on for a bit. There is also a big ship that you can see as well. We explored the Ocean Explore area first. I really like that there were people around to help and answer questions, plus almost every exhibit had a computer screen to learn about the animals. They had a ray petting tank and lots of open areas to explore. We really enjoyed the variety of animals.

Our favorite area of the Ocean Explorer was the area with the sharks and the ocean tunnel. We spent a lot of time exploring this area. They girls loved watching the sharks and fish swim around them. It was lots of fun to just see. We had a few great shots as a shark would swim by and they would not have noticed it. They would jump a bit at seeing them.

The next area we explored was the Living Planet. The girls loved to watch the penguins as they moved around in the water and above the water as well. We also got to look out off the top of the ship from the lobby.

We went through the Discover Utah area in the Aquarium. It has lots of animals from Utah and was fun to see them in their displays. We learned that the ducks from one exhibit get to wander around at night. We did get to see them feed several of the animals as we walked around.

The South American exhibit was really neat to see. They had various types of fish and birds. There were even some birds flying around the room and you had a rope bridge that you could go across that was loads of fun. Plus a stop to see some poison dart frogs.

The whole Trip was very well done and we loved it. Lots of people to ask questions from and we found the computer screens really nice as well. Those helped us identify many of the fish and animals we were looking at. This is one that if we are in the area we will go back to this aquarium again!

We did find some really great books while we were there. Check these out:

Sharks (Wonderful World of…) is a fun book about sharks with the character from Finding Nemo helping you through the book. The girls really love the book. It has great information through out the book. We will be using this book for Shark Week this year!

Happy is a book of fish and their emotions! We loved this one and read it often. Only one word per page but very good read and fun looking at all the different fish!

Deadly Poison Dart Frogs (Small But Deadly) is one book that we could not pass up while we were there. It has lots of great information for learning about poison dart frogs. There is fun facts on every page. I love the details for those that might be interested in the books.

Wish for a Fish: All About Sea Creatures (Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library) is a fun learning book about fish and the ocean. It is the style of cat in the Hat. We love these learning books. You can learn and have fun at the same time.
