May 2015 Book Finds
Each month we have a fun time looking for books. We always try and have a mix of books that we found at the store and at the library. We have a good mix of books for this month. I love to see what fun books the girls pick out. They each have favorites from the month. I always try and find books that will be different than what they are normally reading.
When we visit stores we look at the new books that are out. Then the same for the library. It is lots of fun to read the books over and over while we have them. This month we found a few new favorites to read.
What This Story Needs Is a Pig in a Wig (A Pig in a Wig Book) is a fun story. You can look for rhyming words as you read the book. They all build as you go. My girls like that it was crazy and simple to read as well. Who does not have fun reading silly books.
Ballet Cat The Totally Secret Secret is a fun book with word bubbles! We have really grown to like books with them. My youngest really likes them. This is a good book about two character interacting and see the changes that happen in the book. I love the ending of the book where two character learn that you don’t always have to play something that one really likes.
The Cat, the Dog, Little Red, the Exploding Eggs, the Wolf, and Grandma is another tale of Little Red Ridding Hood. I loved how the story is told. You can laugh and enough the book as it is read. This one also had word bubbles and it was fun to see how the story was told and interrupted. You can have fun reading it in different voices as well.
Sidewalk Flowers is a great wordless book. We went through the book several times. It has a great mix of color and black & white. We loved to see the flower the girl picked and who she gave the flowers to. It is a wonderful book and one we will get from the library again.
A Bed for Bear is a great book to learn about where different animals sleep. Follow Bernard as he looks for a place to sleep for winter. He tries all kinds of beds and do they fit him? Just read and see. I like all the animals and their homes. It is a good book for animal lovers.
Daddy Hugs is a great book about hugs from days in nature. I like that each of the animals have some words on the page that match the animal sounds. It is fun to see the different ways animals hug. We have enjoyed reading this book!
