Easy Fine Motor Washi Tape Christmas Tree
Every year, we have done some types of Christmas crafts during the season. We have tons of fun making them and enjoy it. This year, we made some Washi tape Christmas Trees.
It was a suggestion from my 11-year-old that we make a Christmas tree craft. She also said it might be fun to use the washi tape again.

We have enjoyed doing simple crafts with this easy to use tape. Plus this is great for building fine motor skills while having fun. Everyone should have some fun. Plus I love that everyone had their idea of how the tree should look. It makes a great open ended project.
Plus this was a craft the four of us did together! It is fun when we do something together.
What we used to make the -Washi Tape Christmas Tree
- white copy paper
- pencil
- Christmas washi tape
- yellow washi tape
- wood grain washi tape
. (We got ours at Michaels but these are similar colors in the links.).
The first part we did was draw our Christmas tree outline on the paper. It would show us how big our tree was going to be. We drew a triangle for the tree and a rectangle for the trunk.
The second step we did was put the trunk on our tree with the wood grain washi tape
Our third step was putting the layers on our Christmas tree. I have seen loads of Christmas trees where they do layers and roll the tape across and we have done it too. We decided to change it up and make each bit of tape look like layers and branches on a tree.
our fourth step was added a star at the top of the tree with yellow washi tape. Everyone had different sizes and ideas for the star.
The fifth and final step was deciding how each of us would finish out the Christmas tree. We all wanted a floor under the tree. My girls wanted to add presents under the tree as well. I love that we all had unique pictures at the end.

I have been following your blog for some time now and got inspired by your materials and activity ideas. I am kindergarten teacher and I have a lot of worksheets and materials that I have done myself based on the needs of the kids in my class. I wanted to know what application or program do you use to create your packs. They are colourful and kids friendly.

I use several things. Photoshop, Gimp, Libra or Open Office. It all depends on the project what I’m using. It varies from time to time. I know that everyone I have talked to uses different things.

So cute!! And a craft all three of my girls would love. (And I love the no mess!). When we’ve used washi tape in the past, the tape never stays stuck to anything. It slowly curls off. Drives my 7 & 5 year olds crazy! Suggestions? Other than gluing down the tape (which seems absolutely absurd).
I’ve never had that happen. I always make sure they are pressing the tape down. Maybe it is the tape you have used? Our Fall tree was on our wall for the last 3 months and never had a problem. Try rolling a rolling pin over the top after you get done and see what happens. After that I guess a glue stick might help.
I’m not really sure what would work.
